Sea Woman In Jeju

'Haenyo', literally meaning sea woman or female diver is famously found in Jeju, Korea. As told by the tour guide, there are only two countries have haenyo today. One is in Korea and another in Japan. However, the sea woman in Japan tends to retire earlier in the age while the average age of sea woman in Korea is around 90 years old and only the elderly woman in Jeju becomes a sea woman to earn for their living. The sea woman becomes a breadwinner on the island while their man would stay at home, taking care of the house and children. Because of the hard work and feeding on the horse's meat/bones, the sea woman in Jeju tends to live longer and healthier than the sea woman in Japan.

The elderly woman plunges into the cold sea, disappear for minutes and return to the surface with their captures such as octopus, sea urchin, seaweed and shellfish. Quite interesting to learn the fact on sea woman.

We bought some of their captures for an amount of 50,000 won, estimated around RM200 and ate freshly on the spot. My dad and brother said that it was considered cheap already. If ate in Malaysia, it will cost more than that.

 This plate cost 50,000 won

 Pretty scenery

Sleep Like a Korean

Annyeong!

Visiting to Korea is like a dream comes true to me.
Korea is in my list of 'Must-Visit' Countries in this lifetime.
If there is a chance, I would like to go to Korea again. I love their country, people as well as their culture and food.

Anyway, one of the experience I tried when in Korea was slept like the Korean - 'Ondol' which is a underfloor heating. Often saw in the K-drama but now I had the chance to sleep like them. Pretty cool! Honestly, it was not comfortable at all. I still prefer to sleep on the bed with a thick mattress. Getting up from the mattress on the floor is another problem even for a young people like us, not to mention the elders.

Waiting

Waiting for your call and message.
Kept looking at the phone every 5 seconds.
Praying and hoping that you’ll call in any minute now.
My phone still in a place, without a sound.
Thought my phone was malfunctioning.
Too busy for a call?
What are you doing now?
Have you forgotten about me?
Why you never call?
Questions whirled inside my brain.
The waiting process was torturing.
Swore that would never waited for your call anymore
It's hard being left behind...but it's hard to be the one who stays.
But still I am waiting….and waiting.

Waiting is one of the most miserable occupation.
Waiting for that life I thought I would have.
Waiting to become something else.
Waiting to be that person I always thought I was on the verge of becoming...one day.
And God knows when is that one day coming or maybe there's never have that one day.

Songs I Like

Passenger - Let Her Go

Dido - End of Night

Fuying & Sam - 分開以後

Songs I like and listening to currently.
Would like to share with you.
Fuying & Sam are the local singer. I never knew that they can sing well until I came across this song.

Picking the sentences I love from Passenger - Let Her Go lyrics:

Staring at the ceiling in the dark
Same old empty feeling in your heart
'Cause love comes slow and it goes so fast

Describe my feelings at times when I felt lonely.
Okay, not letting the dark emotion kick in, let's listen to a lively dance K-pop song.

EvoL - Get Up

I listened to this song while doing my 'belly & cardio' exercise.

CL - The Baddest Female

A cool MV from CL. She is a member from my favourite korean female group - 2NE1.
Personally I love Sandara more.
I like their fashion style & personality. Nonetheless, their performance are great too.
Super cool female group.

-Cheers-

mY Home tOwn

I love to take photos of sunset and scenery.
Isn't it looks pretty with the orange and purplish sky?

My hometown, Sibu is consider a small town but geographical wise, it is big.
Not much attractions. No mega mall. No theme parks. No GSC.
However, we have the varieties of scrumptious local food and interesting local natives, Iban.
The long houses. Rejang River. Their traditions and culture.

Many people says Sibu is going to become a 'retirement' town. Why?
Because most of the youngsters have left the town to explore the world out there, hoping to look for a better opportunities.

Troubled with My Acne

My skin condition is getting worse in these recent 2 years. It changed from flawless skin to combination + acne prone + sensitive skin condition. What's going on??!!! Till today, I still couldn't find the answer to my problematic and sudden change of skin condition. I just could only blame it on my growing age as in a form of consoling myself.

I have been trying all the methods and skincare products and even listened to the advices given, hoping to improve my acne prone skin but to no avail. Some products did slightly healed my acne and rejuvenated my skin just a little bit. But when I was hoping for a better result after weeks or months of using, the acne sprung back again and sometimes they got worse with redness/rash on my face and the acne scars just won't fade away. Frustrating!!! Even the skin specialist doctor could not explained to me on my problematic skin and he just gave me the medical lotion for me to apply before sleep. Well, it did soothes my redness and pimples but it could not control the break out.

Okay, after trying so many methods without effect, I assumed that something must gone wrong inside my body or hormones or some woman's sickness. I decided to go for the body check up. Some people even advised me to conceive because they say pregnancy and during the confinement period,  it will help to improve my body, change my hormones and gradually improve my skin condition. So is it true? I doubted on that. I will give it a try if there's no other way to solve my skin troubles.

See, how serious it is!!! The photos were taken somewhere in March 2013. Now getting better already and would take photos again to show the improvement. Oh yeah, I am using 'Cetaphil' cleanser currently and I find it really good. It did soothes my acne and the scar is less visible already. *Cross fingers* Hope that there won't be any break out.

Wedding Day

Oh ya, I'm still trying to adapt to my new life, new environment and extended family members. I am slow in accepting the changes. Perhaps, it takes a year or a longer period. Our lifestyle and routine was totally different. I still could worked things out with my hubby if there was a different opinion but his parents' way of doing things and lifestyle really......yeah, I still need time. There was a communication barrier between us. Their traditional mindset just could not accept the new things or listening to the youngster. They think they are right ALL the times~! So yeah, let them be. It was really a tough role! *shaking head* Man never understand how pressure and tough for us and our married life. Aiks, I should stop my bad habit to ramble on and on about my pressure life~ Okay, I would like to share some details on my wedding day.

Love this flower pot from Floral Sense, Sibu. I choose tulip instead of rose.

Well, I did not walked down the aisle in the church. We just had a simple morning tea and blessing ceremony by pastor in my house before the groom 'fetch' me to his house. That's my regret for the rest of my life for not walking down the aisle in the church. It was one of my dream, you know. Sigh. My mistake for not asking people's advice on the whole marriage procedure in church. There are some rules for holding a wedding march in church. First, you must not registered for more than 28 days or 1 year. Second, you have to attend the marriage class. Third, not moving in together yet. The rest of the rules, well, you know. And I broke the first rule!!!!We have our ROM for more than 1 year already. So that's a BIG no no no! I only found out the rules after we registered. @#$!#$%*^%  Besides, our different Christianity also a big question to us. He is a Catholic while I am a Protestant a.k.a. Methodist Church. If we really going to have a wedding march in church, so whose church should we go? Hmmmm. I want to go mine and he wants to go his. So end up, we got into argument. To save all the troubles, we just held a small blessing ceremony at my house.

Signing an 'agreement' - wedding vow from my hubby
Putting the ring onto your index finger and pronounced that we belong to each other!

When my dad walked me down the stairs and handed me to my groom, I almost burst into tears. Now I understand why the girls are crying on their wedding day. I hold back my tears because I didn't want to mess up my make up. It was sad to leave my parents and my parents' house!!! It felt like I was no longer belong to them anymore.

Another regret on my wedding day was I got myself an expensive and 'so-called' professional photographer. Really very disappointed and frustrated with their unprofessional-ism and lousy services. I only got my photos recently, after 6 months of my wedding. The photos taken were so 'unskillful'. That was because mostly was taken by his inexperience assistance. Guess what, the assistance could not find my hubby's house so he just went home without informing or asking for direction! Yet, we had to pay the full amount to them and waited for 6 months to get the photos. Moreover, MOST of the photos were f-ugly! @#$%@#$^&

My wedding heels - Morning wear

We were exhausted by the end of the day. Smiling and shaking hands. Both my face and legs felt numb and sore towards the end of the day. I was wearing 5 inches heel. Nearly got myself tripped and felled numerous times but luckily I could hold back. Oh yeah, I also almost got myself burned because the spotlight underneath was burning my evening gown while I was standing there shaking and thanking the guests for coming. I smelt something burnt but still I had no knowledge that my gown had been burnt into one big hole. I just brushed my evening gown behind and away from the spotlight. I only realized the big hole when someone told me about it. Ridiculously, the bridal shop owner asked me to pay RM1200 for that burnt gown. Hello!!! That gown did not looked that expensive to me. It was most probably from China which cost around RM200 - 400 the most. Besides, they could sewn or altered the hole and rented to people again. The hole was at the tail of the gown so it could be covered up. They did not returned my RM200 deposit and plus my gown rental money, that was more than enough for the compensation, right? Tsk tsk tsk tsk, trying to con my money. %^$&#(@!@#. I went for my honeymoon and guess that they couldn't reached me so gave up in the end. When I came back, I saw them putting up that gown on the display window again. Geez, really want to con my money!! Luckily I didn't pay them RM1200.

Toasting to the guests as a form of thanking them for the blessing and coming to our wedding reception! (I looked so pretty in this pink purplish gown, love it! ^.^)

Sweet Dessert

My hometown, Sibu has opened more and more franchise shops selling bubble tea. Some even proclaimed that they are originated from Taiwan or they are the number one's bestselling bubble tea in Taiwan. Hmmm I doubted on their proclamation because I never saw those franchise name when traveling to Taiwan or maybe I had overlooked. Anyway, is that a trend now opening so many bubble tea shops? Everywhere you go, there's a bubble tea shop.

Blackball is one of them from Taiwan. Its main product is grass jelly. Hmm no comment on the food itself. Just a normal sweet dessert.

Work WithOut Air-Cond

The air-conditioner in my office was not functioning well on these few days. Imagine us working inside the office without an air-conditioning on this sunny weather, it was unbearable! Sweating and no mood to work at all. Kept fanning myself with the papers. Phew, luckily we are allowed to move to the other side of office - temporarily.

Our election was just over. Read all the political news flooded on my facebook's page. If there was no social media, we really didn't even know how corrupted is our government. It was really very ridiculous reading some of the news. Annoyed and frustrated with some comments posted by some retarded people. They are the one creating the racism issue and yet they are complaining that Chinese are the one causing all these chaos. Only Malays are asking Chinese going back China. Did Chinese ask Malays go back to where they belong? No. Okay, I didn't want to comment much on the politics issue. Just open your eyes wide and look around. Do not put all the blames on Chinese. It was quite hurtful to hear all these racist comments.

tHe Awkward MoMent

Have you ever stuck in an awkward moment? I believe everyone does.
One of my awkward moment - when someone says to you "Hi, xxxx. Don't you remember me?"
I would have to start digging deep inside my brain and went through years of database of my brain to search for a clue on who's that person but to no avail. My brain is quite rusty and messed up with so many events and faces so yeah, I couldn't recall who you are. And there, this is the most awkward moment when I am giving that person a blank face and asking him, "Errrrmmm, sorry. But do you mind tell me who are you and where we met?" Oooppss. Does it sounds impolite? Because that person would immediately said, "Oh, it's okay then. Never mind. Just forget it." =.=
You make me feel guilty for not remembering you and then you make me even more guilty for not filling in me details. You make me feel bad. With my curiousness, I would definitely thinking and searching whole day there just to find out who are you. So to save my brain usage and time, why couldn't you tell me who are you. Hmmmm. Often I met this kind of awkward moment. Honestly, I didn't even remember some of my classmates back in high school and primary school. There were just too many people walking in and out of my life. Or walking past.
You would do me a great favor by just telling me who are you and where we met. Giving me some hint, you know. Then I would figure out the rest. Thank you.

Bu Bu Jing Xin

Know what am I up to recently? Ashamedly to say that I was actually rushing to finish the Chinese drama - 'Bu Bu Jing Xin'. You must heard or watch this drama as it was a big hit all over the Asian countries. Yeah, I am kind of slow. Only now I start to watch this drama as it had already aired back in 2011 and became popular quite some time ago till now, it hit an impact again when the producer announced that they are going to produce 'Bu Bu Jing Qin' - part 2 of Bu Bu Jing Xin but with different story line and unrelated to the first.

The storyline of Bu Bu Jing Xin is actually on the Qing Dynasty. The main lead actress, Ma Er Tai Ruo Xi was a 21st century girl who met an accident and her soul was electrifying back to Qing Dynasty, facing all kind of obstacles and how she met the love of her life. All the princes like her and treated her good. But the life in palace was not an easy task and always worry of death. The princes were fighting for the thrones. She had a romance relationship with Eighth Prince (starred by Kevin Zheng Jia Yin) and then Fourth Prince (starred by Nicky Wu) who later became a King 'Yong Zhen' after their father (King 'Kang Xi') passed away. She knows the history of Qing Dynasty and who was going to be the next King.

 King 'Kang Xi'

Fourth Prince @ King 'Yong Zhen' and Ruo Xi

Eighth Prince

Thumbs up for the drama!! No wonder it was such a big hit when it aired. Everyone is anticipating for the part 2, hoping that there is a link to the first one. Part 2 will be reflecting the present day and telling how they fight for the legacy and big corporation. Anyway, I still prefer the Qing Dynasty one. It was more interesting although I had a difficulty in understanding some phrases conversed in the drama as it was too deep in meaning especially the poems or 'Cheng Yu'. Luckily, my hubby is patient enough to do the translation and explained certain scenes for me. Or else I didn't even know what's actually going on. I got to admit that till today, I still can't fully understand or learn the Chinese history. I can't differentiate which Dynasty and who's the King.

This scene is super romantic, I think. Hehe ^^

Wedding Reception

It had been more than 3 months since the day I got myself married.
Now been someone's wife and daughter-in-law, is not an easy task.
I am no longer a 'princess' living in a castle anymore. The princess has to go out there and learn to be independent. Taking care of own family and doing all the house chores. My goodness!
Still adapting to my new life, new environment and new family.

Anyway, back to my wedding reception in Kingwood Hotel, Sibu. Actually I want to have a pastel color wedding theme. But like I said, Sibu is really lacking of professional, stuffs and etc. If we want to be perfect, then we need more money to realize it. Hence, I can only make it based on my budget. Anyway, really thankful to my wedding decorator. He really did his best to give what I requested and really put in effort to beautifying my reception. Yeah, I am quite satisfied with his work. Since he couldn't give me pastel color, he suggested on using pastel pink and magenta color for romantic feel.

The photos are taken from Floral Sense, my wedding decorator. The colorful cupcakes are handmade by my hubby. Thanks to his effort to bake all these cupcakes on the night before our wedding day. He didn't had enough sleep for his BIG day.

The BIG day was really tiring. We didn't even have time to take a rest. Glad that everything was over towards the end of the night. All the preparation and works just for one SPECIAL day which I never thought that it would ended so fast. I didn't even have time to stop and think or catching my breath. Smile till my face was getting stiff. The high heels was killing my feet. Carrying the heavy gown tails and walked around the tables. Oh my goodness! Never felt so exhausted in my life. Again, glad that we had made it. Once in a lifetime. Finished one of the big projects in our life and moving towards the next chapter. Another big project awaiting for us - producing baby. Oh no! *gulps*

2013

2012 gone and here comes 2013. Everyone is marveled at how fast the time had gone. Every year at this period, I was sort of in a ‘depression’ state. Time is running too fast for me to keep up and I am getting older again. People I love are getting older too, means they are going to leave me anytime soon. I saw them getting more wrinkles and weaker as days gone by, it worries me. I understand that it is part of the life cycle to face the aging, death and new life born but honestly, I still not mentally prepared for it yet.

Okay, not wanting to depress you with my troubles. People are asking me what my New Year's resolution is. Again, I didn’t give it a thought…yet. Hmmm, maybe to grow taller. Not as in height, but my confidence level. Self-assured. I hope to improve myself in many aspects such as social skills, communication, knowledge and appearance. Yeah, it’s from inner to outer and outer to inner. I need to overcome my own fear and get out from my comfort zone. To free myself from this crippling insecurity. I’ve reached a point in my life where I’m tired of being a victim of my own insecurity. The negative energy is draining me.  But is it going to be easy? Once I lose myself in the day-to-day pressures of life and then I sink into depression again when I face adversity. I am not sure whether I can do it or not. Just crossed my fingers and hoping that I can achieve my goal, resolution, dream or whatever that I plan to do in future. Believing that 2013 is going to be a great year ahead.

Oh, I have been thinking of getting a tattoo or bleaching my hair to blue/purple color recently. It looks like a rebellious stage. Am I? Just getting bored with myself. Would like to try something different and new.  Thinking of getting a tattoo of words like FAITH and HOPE on my arms.  However, I need a huge courage to do so because my parents, my colleagues, my boss, my relatives and my professionalism are holding me back. They will think that I am having a mental instability and curious at what’s wrong with me. Do not underestimate the grapevine in office. Will my boss fire me or giving me lecture if I get a tattoo or bleaching my hairs? Definitely yes.  So I am still thinking.  One day maybe……when I am no longer working in office and still look ‘young’ enough to do so.

Looking back, I did achieve some resolutions in 2012, which is getting married to my first love. We met back in 2002 and after dating for 10 years, we get hitched. He is my first and only man in my life. How amazing it is! I was surprised at my own patience for being devoted to one man for such a long time ….. and it’s going to be forever now till the death does us apart. Whoa!  Till today, I still can’t believe that I am such a loyal girl. Trust me, many people out there thought that I am flirtatious and have change a number of boyfriends.

I recalled that there was once I overheard a guy said to his friend about me crying when I was back in school then.  Served her right. She is a flirtatious girl.” That guy thought that I was dumped by a guy and crying there. Wtf. Hell no, I was crying because I was bullied by a group of retarded guys! And he was accusing me without knowing the truth. So till today, I still remembered his words vividly.  I want to find him to tell him in the face that I am not bitchy and maybe your wife is!  I was hurt by his words because I am not that sort of person he thinks I am. That time, I didn’t understand. Now I learned that I can’t control what they think of me and I can’t live up to their expectation or impression. That is because they didn’t know me. I might leave a poor impression. So I have proved them wrong! Never judge a book by its cover. I am actually a good girl! (Sorry to bore you with my old story ~)

What else? Oh yeah, finally I got the chance to travel to Europe which I thought I never will have a chance to step on ‘Ang Moh’ land in this life and it is like an unreachable dream but he makes my dream comes true. He makes my 2012 ends perfectly without any regret. Thanks, my dear!

Anyway, Happy New Year !Hiss hiss....*I am hoping to have a 'horse' baby, not a 'snake' baby so getting pregnant is not in my new year's resolution!* But if there is an accidental, I just accept and be thankful! =)
