Rambling On My Wedding Details

August is coming to an end and entering the new month, September. My favourite month because my birthday fall on this month and it is autumn (ok, Malaysia doesn’t have four season but still it is autumn season in other countries~).

Nervous, nervous….till I had a nightmare on my wedding details lately. I dreamt about my friends coming to my wedding reception and worse, the reception was not confirmed. Everything was in disaster! Then I panicked and kept thinking on how to save my wedding ….. and I woke up! The moment I opened my eyes and realized that it was just a bad dream, I felt so relieved. Phewww~. While comforting myself, I tried to have a wink of sleep for few minutes before getting my butt off the bed for work.

It was not a surprise that I would have such dream because I was such a fussy-pot. Too concerned and worry of every little unimportant details. I have been counting the days to my wedding every morning and every night. When it comes nearer each day, I panicked. A friend said to me, “Keep calm and you better don’t be a runaway bride!” Can I? I have to get out of my comfort zone. It’ll be a new life with a new family. Hope I can adapt to the new life and new environment.

Now I was busy working on the guest list. I took care of my colleagues and friends list while the relatives was taken care by my parents. Try to minimize the cost and kept everything within our budget but after calculated, it had exceed the budget. When I thought of saving the money, I was actually spending more on it. #%*@&@!#*&. I changed my mind and decided to spend some $$$ on invitation card printing because the hotel’s free invitation card really looks fugly and simple, without an envelope (actually I don’t mind because people will just throw away the card when they did the spring cleaning). BUT due to my job position and avoid being the target of office grapevine, the invitation card plays an important role too…..a representation of me, my soon-to-be-hubby and our families. The card doesn’t have to be expensive and splendid as long as it is pretty, decent and keep people’s mouth shut from complaining on that little card thing.

I have not decided on the banquet decoration yet. Really need to find a time to discuss with the potential florist/decorator, see whether could meet my needs. There was such a limited choice in this small town and they charged quite costly for a good one (florist, wedding planner, photographer, MC, performer, and sound system/lighting etc). Damn~. It makes me want to venture into wedding business as well. Too bad that I did not have any skill on any of them.

Awkward Situation

I got to admit that woman is a strange and complicate creature.

We love to dress prettily and did everything to make us look pretty and attractive. We even throwing lots of money or we preferably called it an investment onto the beauty products, clothes, accessories and etc just to make us look pretty. With an ‘evil’ intention of getting an attraction or lingering gaze from men. Eeewww, disgusting~ But it’s a true story.

We hope to obtain an approval and astounding expression from people around us especially getting the attention of the guy whom we have a crush on. Who doesn’t like to look pretty and attractive? It is the girls’ nature yearning for a pretty face and sexy body.

And when we finally succeed to caught the attention, we are backing away. Oh wait, it is not appropriate to use ‘we’ here because I am not sure about other girls. But for me, yes. I felt extremely awkward and uncomfortable when people are really gazing at me or flattering me. *Blush* Sort of social anxiety, I guess. My whole body went rigid without my realization. I did not dare to make eye contact with people. I would either looking away or just glued to my seat, not daring to move. Not to mention, greeting people. People have mistaken my shyness as bigheaded or snobbish. *Guilty face* That really put me in an awkward situation. My shyness had caused me lots of unnecessarily misunderstanding.
As a typical Asian woman, I am not accustomed to the compliments. I gauchely dismissed them with “Aiya, nolar. I still looked fucking ugly and fat.” Okay, most people hate to hear this kind of reply. Am I right? So, now I learned to say “thank you” instead although at times, I still feel self-conscious and uncomfortable. I wondered whether people would take it as a polite gesture or would be thinking that I am just another ‘bigheaded’ girl who thought that she is pretty and blah blah blah. We couldn’t please everyone and controlling their voice of mind.

But I would learn to continue saying ‘thank you’ when people flattering me because one day, when I have wrinkles all over my face and aged, I couldn’t expect and might not hearing people flattering me anymore.

Pastel Color Wedding Theme

Recently I was quite in love with pastel color. The pastel color made me feel like a girl. Okay, I am a girl! I mean, it made me feel more feminine or 'girly'. So I was thinking of using pastel color to decorate my wedding reception. Hmmm, a mixture of Baby Pink, Tiffany Blue and White color. Vintage wedding theme is another favorite of mine. Just that I have doubt with the proficiency and professionalism of the wedding/event planner in this small town. Not sure whether they can deliver the result that I want or expect.

On the other hand, I was worry that my evening gown does not match with the pastel color theme. I will be wearing the red evening gown. Will it match?? I pondered. I like that red evening gown so not going to give up on that and I am so in love with pastel color theme so not going to give up either. Alright, I truly understand that they do not match at all unless I changed to pink or white evening gown. Still trying to solve this problem. Maybe I will end up using red and white color theme. Chinese love RED for the wedding. They say RED symbolizes a good luck, prosperity and well, what else...... anyway, red is GOOD for marriage!

Here are some photos I "copied" from the web. Please note that I do not own the photos below.

Rainy Day

Majority of the people would prefer rain over the hot sun. I am an exceptional.  Although I dislike scorching hot sun, still I prefer sunny day rather than rainy day. Rain makes my day gloomy. I dislike getting wet especially those rain drops splattered on me. The watery road would get my legs wet. All my programmes or activities for the day were ruined when it rains. I hate to take umbrella as well. If you knew me rather well, you will notice that I rarely take umbrella when going out. There is a reason but the reason is actually quite lame so not to disclose it. Not a surprise that I often stuck at somewhere or getting wet when it rained all of a sudden.

Another thing, the thunder and lightning really frightened me. That’s why I dislike rain to the max. Raining totally spoiled my mood for everything. It was acceptable when it rains in the middle of night which will help to ease my sleep with the cool weather.

Now is mid July already. Again, I groaned at how fast the time flies. Left 3 more months to go for my BIG day. Yet, I have not confirmed my actual day photographer and decorator for wedding reception. The guest list still hanged in the middle. The gowns for the day already settled but I still feel kinda worry with my choice on the bride gowns. Not sure whether it is really pretty and suit me or not. Make up and styling artist already confirmed.  There will be no ‘sisters’ gang, I think. I didn’t have much close girl friends and if I do, they are busy as usual. They are not sacrificing their leave or work for my BIG day. So I am thinking of making it as simpler as possible. Avoid all the hassle and tricking the groom and his entourage games. Maybe it will lack of some fun and tedious, I know. But both of us are dull person and our age, well, quite ‘mature’ so we are fine with that. Anyway, what else shall I prepare or did I miss out anything important? My head is so dizzy and heavy just thinking and deciding on all these things. Why is the marriage so complicate and troublesome? Because it involves more than 1 person and that is why. I want to run away from the marriage.=.=

Okay, what am I rambling? Blame it on the rainy day. See, it really makes me feel gloomy, exactly like those dark clouds.

Full House Lifestyle Store and Cafe

Been curious on my constant updated post in my blog recently? Fret not! It just proved that I am actually been diligent. Alright, I get it. It’s a joke! Actually I am bored and quite free in the office.  After finished the annual meeting and reports, I am quite free during this period and will start to get busy again by the end of year. Do you know what I did on these few days? I mean every working day? SURFING THE NET!! Yes, I have been surfing all the sites, read all the celebrity bloggers’ blog, online news and researched on my coming trip details but the time still ticking slowly. It’s not even past 5 o’clock yet! Hell yeah! I couldn’t go on like this without doing anything. My boss will get suspicious if I am not typing anything. Lolz. To pretend that I am busy typing and doing work, so here I am, writing blog. =) Now you know…..~ *shame-faced*

Very cute menu!

Just want to share my instagram photos on the food I took when I was dining in Full House Lifestyle Store and Café. To make it easier, we called it ‘Full House’ then. First time came across Full House was from the photo I saw on my friend’s facebook wall and it was opened only in Kuala Lumpur then. The cute and chic, white interior design has attracted my attention. It has lots of cute things and cute cartoons, making you feel comfortable and young. It makes you feel like being at home!

Cute cartoon photos on the wall ~

Interior Design

I have longed for a try there! When I heard of its opening branch in Kuching, I immediately checked out on it. Okay, not that I traveled to Kuching purposely for eating out in Full House. It just happened that I was in Kuching and the location is near to the hotel I stayed so why would I miss the chance to check out the food there? The ambience and design itself is a credit. The menu quite limited and the price looks reasonable. As for the food, well, let’s the photos did the talking. As recommended by the waitress, their wok-sear chicken chop is the most well-liked and a must try dish in the menu. I tried and yes, their wok-sear chicken chop did taste good. As for pan-sear dory fish, hmmm, not to my liking.

Sunset

Sunset at Patong Beach, Phuket

Are you a ‘sunrise’ or ‘sunset’ kind of person? I belonged to the ‘sunset’ kind of person. I am not an early riser. I have to sleep in till the sun has goes up and shining brightly through my window, greeting me.

Sunrise brings hope and chance, to welcome another brand new day. It is bright and cheerful. My dear is a sunrise kind of person. He is chirpier. He prefers to wake up early in the morning to have his breakfast to kick off his day. I am opposite of him. I would say, sunset is more suit my personality – emotional, introvert, mysterious, dark and yet attractive, ahemmm. I prefer to stay up late to work on my things. I am more active at night while moving like a zombie in the morning. Lol.

Besides, the color and beauty of sunset fascinated me. By looking at the sunset, it is so poignant and yet, it warms my heart as well. The first thing I did on the beach is soaking my feet in the salty sea water. What a boring thing to do!

I am so bored~~~~

Phuket

Ever wonder why the kids felt so happy and excited when they saw the beach. Without realizing it, I also felt excited and smile broadly when I saw the beach. Like a young kid, I exclaimed excitedly, “Look, there’s the beach! It’s beach! Oh my god!” Except that I did not jump up and down.

I am not really into beach thing, you know. I prefer greenery grass and mountain more than sandy beach. I dislike the scorching hot sun. I dislike getting tanned. That's why I did not do sun-bathing as my skin already naturally looked tan. I run for shade when I am on the beach till the sun goes down in the late evening, then I will soaked my feet and played with the sea current. I did not know how to swim, not to mention the snorkeling. There’s one time I was so brave enough trying to snorkel and ignoring the fact that I can’t swim, nearly got myself drowned and appeared on the headlines. Have the urge to praise myself for being smart and calm enough to keep flapping and kicking my legs till I grabbed onto something. Actually I was wearing a life jacket so it won’t drown me. But I nearly was being suffocated by the sea water gushing in as I could not breathe with the snorkel mask on my face. Stupid me.

And yet, I would exclaim and getting all excited each time when I saw the beach without apparent reason. I am intrigued by the beauty of nature and how broad is the sea. The ocean waves and sea breeze just makes me feel calm and relax. The crystal clear sea water is just so tempting and makes me yearned for jumping into it each time, if only I could swim. *sigh*

So it was my second time paying a visit to Phuket, Thailand with my family. It was fun though except that my dear, my dad and I getting sick because of the heat and scorching hot sun. I was fortunate enough to get sick on the day we came back to Malaysia. So I still enjoyed the moment in Phuket.

Since I was a budget traveler, I tried every possible way to cut down our expenses. I booked the accommodation through Agoda.com. Often, it will have some offer rate or discount rate which I think is really worth. We stayed in Aspery Hotel at Patong Beach (the most crowded and popular beach in Phuket) for RM100++ per night per room included breakfast. At first, I was worried that the rooms will be small, dirty or in a bad location because of the cheap price offered. I was the one organizing the trip so I hope to impress my brothers and parents. They are quite fussy so I did not want to give them any chance to complain me. Surprisingly, the rooms are extremely clean, nice, spacious and comfortable. The location is superb too. Far from the noisy crowd but near to the beach and the shops. It only took 5 minutes walk to the beach and the shops along the beach. There are food stalls and restaurants around the hotel.

Aspery Hotel

We are food lover as well as seafood lover. We skipped those expensive restaurants which mostly crowded with foreigners. We opted for the ‘mamak’ style restaurant which also served seafood and nice Thai food but with cheaper price, of course. The bill mostly came out around THB900 – 1200 for six of us. Considered relatively cheap as we ordered around 5-6 dishes with seafood, meat and Thai beers.

Local delicacies - Mango Stick Rice and Pancake!! Must try!!!

We went to the Phi Phi Island since my brothers want to snorkel and swim. They did not want to go to James Bond Island for sightseeing. The package we took was expensive, costing us THB1500 per person and it was a big boat, not speedboat. Geez, I made an error of judgment! Forget it, since we had paid already and after all, he gave us a free transfer to and from airport/hotel.

Phi Phi Island

I decided to bring my family for sightseeing around the Phuket. Based on my previous experience there, I got grip on bargaining price with the ‘tuk tuk’ driver and salesperson. Often, they will offered a price very high and when you tried to haggle with them, they either shook their head saying no or telling you that it was very cheap already. Do not believe them. You can haggle the price down a bit which you think is worth or reasonable for the item and if they say no, you walked away. They will definitely pulling you back and agree to the price you offered. Let’s say, you can buy a T-shirt for THB100 – 200 instead of THB400-600. See the difference. So remember, you can get a T-shirt sold at the shop lots along the Patong beach for THB100, the most expensive also only THB200. Never pay any extra for a T-shirt sold there.

Nightlife in Patong Beach - Bangla Road

I was haggling with ‘tuk tuk’ driver for a reasonable price to bring us to the attractions around Phuket Island. We went to Promthep Cape, Karon Cape, Big Buddha, elephant trekking, cashew nut factory, Kata Beach, Karon Beach and Wat Chalong for THB1100 only! There were 6 of us. He did not charge by person for God’s sake. The tour agency charged THB1200 PER PERSON for sightseeing to these attractions!!! You hear me right. So it is better idea to hail a ‘tuk tuk’ and haggled a price to bring you visit to the places you want to go. He waited for us at every spot of attractions under the scorching hot sun. Pity him! We were hot and sweating profusely too. My dad gave him extra tips seeing him being so kind waiting patiently for us under the hot sun without taking his lunch.

Promthep Cape, Wat Chalong and Elephant Trekking!

On a side note, we paid THB800 per person for half an hour elephant ride. It was a good experience for the first time! But be prepared for the elephant stink and the legs will get wet by the elephant when it splashed water with trunk.
As I have mentioned before, Phuket is indeed an ideal place for romantic getaway or spending the holidays with your family and friends.
